Pastor Search Team Meeting Update

Doug Kendall shared our devotion from 1 Corinthians 10:1–11, reminding us that the experiences of Israel were recorded as examples for us. Even after seeing God’s faithfulness over and over, they still struggled at times with fear, complaining, and disobedience.

He also shared from Numbers 20:7–12, when God told Moses to speak to the rock, but Moses struck it instead. It was a good reminder that God does not always work the same way every time. We have to keep listening, trusting and following His direction.
At the end of Moses’ life, God allowed him to see the Promised Land from Mount Nebo, even though he would not enter it. There was something bittersweet about looking back at all God had done while knowing a new chapter was beginning.
That feels very meaningful for us right now. We are so thankful for Pastor Chuck and the many years of faithful leadership God has given our church through him. We can look back with gratitude, but we also have to look ahead with faith.

After Moses, the people mourned, but then in Joshua 1, God told Joshua it was time to get up and move forward.
That is a good reminder for us as a Search Team. We cannot let fear of the unknown keep us from moving forward. God was faithful in the last chapter, and He will be faithful in the next one.

The team is continuing to evaluate the candidates that have been submitted. Please continue praying that we will clearly recognize the man God is preparing to lead Collierville First Baptist into this next season.
