Pastor Search Team Meeting Update

Doug Kendall shared our devotion from Colossians 1:9–12, reminding us that so many people are praying for our Pastor Search Team and that this work must remain grounded in prayer. We cannot rely on the knowledge or wisdom of this world. As 1 Corinthians 1:27 reminds us, God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise. Our dependence must be on Him and on the spiritual wisdom and understanding that He provides.

Returning to Colossians 1:10, Doug emphasized that we are called to “walk in a manner worthy of the Lord.”This is more than simply walking through the process—it calls us to a higher standard. Our walk, our worship, and the way we approach this responsibility should be different because we belong to Christ. We should value the eternal things of God rather than allowing ourselves to be driven by worldly measures of success.

As we increase in our knowledge of God and become fruitful in the work He has given us, we begin to see more of His glory and His power. He strengthens us and gives us the steadfastness, patience, and long-suffering we need for the journey.

Doug shared a great reminder about God’s timing:

“We may have the watch, but the Lord has the time.”
We may be watching the calendar and wondering when the next step will come, but God is not rushed. Our responsibility is to faithfully do the work He has given us while trusting His timing.
And we are called to do all of this with joy. Our desire should be that we count this season as joy—not simply something to get through. God can use this time to reveal Himself to us, deepen our dependence on Him, and prepare us to accomplish the work He has called us to do.”

During this time, we are continuing to receive candidate resumes as we prayerfully seek the person God has prepared to serve as our next Senior Pastor. Our prayer is that we will seek His wisdom rather than the wisdom of the world, walk worthy of the Lord, remain patient in His timing, and serve with joy—trusting that He will show Himself faithful as we do His work.
