Pastor Search Team Meeting Update

Jerry Horn opened our meeting with a devotion centered on Psalm 23:3, reminding us of the important picture of a shepherd. Just as the Lord is our Shepherd, a pastor is called to shepherd and care for the flock God has entrusted to him.

Jerry shared how a shepherd tends to his sheep, even removing things that become caught in their wool and hinder their mobility. In much the same way, a pastor helps his congregation recognize and remove things that may be impediments to their spiritual growth and walk with Christ. A pastor also helps set the spiritual tone for the flock through his teaching, leadership, and example.

We were reminded through Proverbs 3:5–6 to trust the Lord fully rather than relying on our own understanding and to allow Him to direct our path. We also reflected on John 13:35 and Romans 12:1–2, considering the importance of Christlike love and of being transformed by the renewing of our minds so that we can discern the will of God.

As we continue the pastor search, our prayer is that we remain willing to accept God’s will rather than our own, allowing Him to shape not only whom we are looking for in our next pastor, but also our hearts throughout the process.

The team is currently reviewing the candidates we have received and continuing to follow up with them. This includes requesting resumes and making initial contacts as we prayerfully learn more about each potential candidate. We are also continuing to receive new candidate referrals and submissions as the search process moves forward.

Please continue to pray for wisdom, discernment, unity, and patience as we seek God’s direction and trust His timing in leading us to our next pastor.
